B'day weekend

What a wonderful weekend we had. Sarah came down, went to the car dealership to have a problem fixed and we met her there to pick her up. She wasn't alone! She had picked up her brother Adam at his house to come down and celebrate my birthday. She had told me that he wouldn't be able to come down so it was a wonderful surprise. We stopped to pick up our fav. breakfast, a Fat Ernie. It's a breakfast burrito supreme. It has fried potatoes, refried beans, bacon, sausage, eggs and cheese all rolled up in a lg. tortilla. Its bigger around than my wrist and soooooooooooooooooo very good. We then went to the Bell County Home and Garden show. Its a huge event. We all enjoy walking and visiting booths. We stayed 3 hours. Sarah and Adam went to see Jennifer (my granddaughter) to get their hair done. Both had hair color and a cut. Jennifer is a whiz at hair. They looked really good. Adam wanted to hide the gray. Sarah just wanted something different. We got to see Shelby too. Her babysitter was sick so she was at the shop. Adam actually rocked her to sleep. (he's a bachelor). After, we went to pick up her car, which wasn't fixed (wrong part ordered) and then we spruced up a bit and Sarah took us to our fav. chinese rest. Dynasty. I believe its the best chinese place around.
Our eldest son had called, but I missed the call. Becky his wife did reach us while we were eating and we agreed to meet them at 7. She tried to reach my son, Carol, but he got tired and went home. So just Becky came by with a wonderful gift. A ceramic wind chime with angels. I shall have to take a picture of it. Too bad I can't send a sound recording. ( I probably could if I knew how). Sarah got me a very heavy duty BBQ set of stainless steel.

Sunday, we finally got down to the reason she came down in the 1st place. To organize the craft room. We got it painted and most of the trash taken out and she came up with some great ideas to use and helped with some of the sorting. They had to leave about 12. I so enjoyed having them both here. After they left, we went fishing!!! Of course we caught our limits. It's so relaxing sitting in the warm sun, quiet and peaceful.

Today we just did regular chores, went shopping, got tags for the boat trailer, and went fishing again. What a nice way to spend an expanded weekend.
I will be taking pictures of the craft room the 1st of March. It's nearly done, but the decorating will have to wait a little while. No curtains yet, I want to make them, so will have to search for the "right" material.

Gr. Grandbaby Heaven

Yesterday our son surprised us in the afternoon. He had an appt. and stopped by for coffee. It's always a treat to see him. He and his wife are always super busy so we don't see them as often as we would like to. After Becky got off work she stopped by also. We so enjoy their company. They are the proud grandparents of Shelby and Annalise.

We had an extra surprise. Becky went to pick up Shelby(who will be 1 year old next month). We hadn't seen her since Christmas. While out getting Shelby, Becky also stopped to get some chicken tenders for all of us. How sweet she is. She knew I wasn't up to cooking and we were all hungry. Shelby loves french fries and little pieces of chicken. Becky also go Shelby some mashed potatoes and gravy. We really enjoyed chatting and eating together.
Shelby is pulling herself up and trying to walk. It was so funny, Trouble had been put to bed so he wouldn't jump all over us but we let him out for a little while to see how he and Shelby would get along.... I wish I had my camera ready. She wanted to touch the dog so bad. He wanted too also, but was very cautious. He didn't realize that Shelby could move as fast as he could. The race was on. They rubbed noses then when she reached out to him, it was just too much for him. He beat a hasty retreat, under the bench and back to bed where he was safer. Shelby right behind him.......lol I think they will be great friends one of these days. (When he can be sure she won't grab fur)
She was very interested in American Idol on TV and playing with a spoon. She waved it like she was leading a band. She had to touch base with grandma, and we played a great game of peek a boo. Actually I wanted to get many more pics. but she moved too fast so I got a lot of blurred pics or one of her back.
After all the flu like symptoms we have had, I hadn't been doing too much with the craft room.
6 stuffed boxes of garage sale stuff are already packed and dozens of storage containers have been moved out and today we bought paint, spackled all the holes(Room used to be Sarah's before she left for college) swept all the cobwebs and pulled nails we will tackle the painting tomorrow. The paint color I chose is Pecan Twist. Kind of a pinky cinnamon color. I like it.
Sarah will be coming Sat. to help me put it all away, at least as much as possible. Pictures will follow with the completed room next week I actually will have finished a resolution!!!!

Surprise!

We got one of the best surprises this morning. Our Granddaughter and Gr. Granddaughter called. We haven't seen or heard from her for over 2 years. She has been going through so very bad times and isolated herself from nearly all her family. The mess she was in has now righted itself and she called the let us know she was visiting in Belton and could we come over. IN A HEARTBEAT!!! Hubby is down with flu like symptoms so I rushed right over. She had been helping her b/f's boss with a garage sale. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to see them both. Taryn has lost a lot of weight and Hannah is tall for her age. She is 6. I brought them here. Lots of tears and hugs. She got an update on all the happenings. She didn't know that Sarah was married, or that she has 2 new baby 2nd cousins.
She did get to see the wedding video. We have promised the we would NOT be seperated like this again. I won't let it happen!!! I will fill you in on the rest later.

Chit Chat

What a time we have had. First I got sick, really sick and was out of it for a few days. No, I did not tell Sarah. She would have flipped out and drove us crazy. She is a wonderful daughter, but I so rarely get sick she would go nuts. Then, I got a stupid cold. One that had my nose dripping 24/7. I didn't get sick with this one, just very annoyed. All is getting better now. Nose has dried up and in fact, feel so much better that we have been fishing for trout 4 days in a row.
Hubbys' neice from California called this morning and her tale of woe was far worse than mine. She was mugged! She went into a store, noticed 2 men sitting on a bench in front, didn't think anything of it. She did like most of us, went to her car, opened it, and put her purse in the passenger seat when she was hit (hard) and her purse was grabbed. She started screaming and made it back to the store. They called 911, but the culprits were gone, with her purse that had everything in it.
Her garage was broken into and her grandsons bike was stolen.........she was in the house.
The bike was found.
Then, one night the phone rang, she thought it was her soldier son calling from overseas, it wasnt, it was a pornographic call. And one to follow. All she could think of the theives that had her purse, with ph.# and address in it. She didn't sleep the rest of the night. Her injuries from the attack are still bothering her and said she needed counciling to get over the fear and anxiety. I don't blame her at all. They had planned to move to Texas a few years ago but had to change plans. Maybe this will get them moving again. NO one can promise safety, but here is so much less problems. I hope I covered the story well. She read this blog. Feel free to let everyone know if I got it all wrong.

One more tradegy was averted. My Granddaughter and her hubby were very close to getting a divorce. Thank the Good Lord they came back together even more committed to each other. Ya'll keep them in your prayer please. They will need help to work out all the problems that had built up.

I am NOT opposed to divorce, but it should be for serious reasons, not from pressure from family and friends.

Pride is showing.

My Granddaughter, Pink Trees(Shanna) told me last week of her plans. I was very good about keeping it to myself until she announced it to all. Not that she asked me to, I just am not that much of a gossip or story teller. I just didn't want to tell it, fearing getting information wrong.
I am taking this opportunity to tell her how proud I am of her decision. In some ways she is like me. I was always more than ready to head off in odd directions to follow my hubby. (Army)
I am a firm believer in being with your husband whenever possible.
The places were wonderful. We learned a lot about other states and countries, dabbled in language and met super people. I heartily agree with her decision. I look forward to hearing her describe her new life. With Jerrett being so young, he will be far more adaptable. I Pray that the plans work for them.
I know that she will get some "sour grapes" attitude, but fortunatly she is very strong and will do what is right for her family.
I got quite a bit of 'sour grapes' myself. How can I just pack up and go off by myself w/1 then w/3 kids on my own. We had no idea what we would find, how come hubby couldn't be there to help, how dare he expect us to pack and go by plane/ship/ all by myself. He would be finding us suitable housing. Did I think he would find something I would like? All of this expressed by family members that I Loved and respected. (not my mom and dad) Well I did it, glad I did and would do it again. The boys needed their dad and I needed him too. One day I will have to relate all our adventures. As wonderful as Shanna can write we should have some great reads in the future. Go for it Shanna and never regret it. I love you and your independence so much.
Written with love,
Grandma

What am I going to do now?

Well, probably nothing. Another lazy day! I am still in the process of cleaning and sorting my craft room. I have 4 boxes of garage sale items. I had hubby get more boxes so I can clear even more. Sarah will come down for my birthday later this month and help with the organization. Hubby and I are going to paint! This room, I hate to admit, hasnt been painted for more than 8 yrs. It is truly nasty. I'm going to be a bad girl and not paint behind 2 of the shelves. Too heavy and one is screwed into the wall. All I have to do is pick the color. Sarah suggested a beige. I smoke and want to hide the stain. I have to go look at paint chips and decide. The ceiling is the worst! The new ceiling paint with the tint that disappears when dry will be used. Other wise we would have to do it twice. (That job is hubby's) I kinda sorta am looking forward to it. I hate to paint!!!
Friday night, a cousin called and asked if we could use some more corragated tin and barn wood. She had a friend that was removing all her sheds and barn. We could come and get all we want! We went to her place yesterday and I believe we have found a future friend. Lovely widow with her family near her. She is building herself a new house. We saw the plans and its going to wonderful! She has 3 ponds on the property and a view to die for. We will have to go several times but it will be worth it.
Tomorrow Hubby has his appt. at the VA. That takes most of the morning. If he gets done early enough we will go to Georgetown to see if we have a check and perhaps some removals. Then Tues and Wed. we will go and start getting some of the wood and tin. She also has lots of mesquite trees. We will get some of the wood for bbq. I took the camera out but forgot to take pics. Its very nice. Later this week we are supposed to have rain. We still need it, but can't get the wood if it's raining. The soil just gets super muddy and you can't drive on it.
Pix will follow this later this week.
I have lost 5 # so far!!!! The hard part starts now. Super bowl Sunday snacks. I will try to behave myself. LOL
