Jessica! Granddaughter of ours

I started a new blog about my Granddaughter Jessica the other day. I realized I suck at writing, especially about someone you know and love. I watched her grow, mature and discover her talent. She has so many too. She is very talented. She took dance from an early age and loved it. Enough that she began dancing again after college and marriage(hip hop and tap) in fact, she started again this year after our beautiful gr. grandbaby was born.
She plays the trumpet, and we watched in amazement as that talent was displayed at her Senior Recital. Her degree is in music education, and she teaches elementry choir. It is not her favorite thing, but she does it well. I believe that she would much rather be a full time Mommy.
Her husband is also a trumpet player but chose History as his degree. He recieved his Masters last year and this summer will get his Education Certification and teach this fall. He quit his job to become a full time DAD so that Jessica could go back to work .
As you can tell, I am very proud of her for choosing such a great husband.
Jessica is tall, thin and graceful, quiet(for the most part) and a quick sense of humor. She sews, does counted cross stitch, and just about any thing she sets her mind to. Check out her Blog, Momtobe07. I believe I have captured some of what Jessica is about, but her blog is really her. It shows her writing skills are far better than mine.
I hope I told you how much I really love her.

Life isn't always fair.

Last month, Hubby went for his 6 month check up. He goes 2X a year for high blood pressure, hi cholesterol and diabetes. All of which were very mild and well under control. This time they also ran a hemoglobin count. I think it was a wise move because his white cell count was super high. They immediately ran another with the same results. Diagnosis: Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, a disease that usually affects only those over 50 and usually very common, with very little medication needed. Most live with it for 15-20 years with no more than frequent monitoring. My hubby went thru bone marrow exam a Cat scan and of course more blood tests which showed an aggressive streak. The lymph nodes were quite swollen and close to his stomach which needed to have chemotherapy to reduce. So, that's what he just finished, 3 days of chemo. He will have 3 more days in April and probably May. Then they will do another cat scan to see if the meds are working. We knew we couldn't not tell the kids and family so made a point of letting them know. We weren't sure what the meds would do. He had absolutely NO effects from it. The only thing is keeping from cuts, bruises and other peoples infections. He hates being reminded........lol. He is an active man who hates to relax and "take it easy" Let me know if you are being treated for the same. It would be interesting knowing how your doing. If you do, Prayers and good wishes go with this for you and your family. I myself have a very good feeling about it all.

Meet the Grandchildren (Justin)

I know that I have featured Shanna on my blog several times. I guess I have neglected all the others, not intentionally, so forgive the next few blogs while I brag about the others. I had intended to talk about Justin last week, right after his concert however the weather kept interrupting. Lots of lightning, etc.

Justin is a Senior at Baylor. His degree is music performance. He is on the Dean's list and we are all so proud of him. Justin just turned 21. He has 2 sisters and 2 nieces and is a very good uncle and grandson. He's the son of my eldest son.

His primary instrument is the Saxophone but he also is superior in Clarinet, Flute (both self-taught) and bassoon. This also includes piano and all the varieties of the mentioned instruments. Justin is in the Wind ensemble, Jazz Band and the Symphony band. We try to go to most of them but keep missing the Jazz concerts. He will be having his Senior recital the 21st of April. All the family will be there of course.

He is our only grandson so far and we all spoil him just a bit. The pain in the hind end has finally grown up. Good looking, talented, and smart (maybe smart aleck but a real sweet heart. Ok Justin will that do for a brag? The other pictures I have of Justin are with other family so I guess I will need one to show just how handsome he is.

weekend news

We had a very nice weekend. We did go to son and d/i/l garage sale, then went shopping, bought nothing but looked and wished. Son and daughter in law came Sunday for a fish supper. We had fried rainbow trout, red potatoes with garlic, cole slaw and berry cobbler with ice cream. My nice clean craft room was volunteered for the left over garage sale items. I was given several nice items and was proud to have a place to put them. They are trying to clean out their place and since I was having a garage sale later, It was no problem. They have many really good things left over.

Monday we fished. I thought most of the stocked trout would be gone but there are quite a few left.

Shanna and Jerrett stopped by on Tuesday on the way to Austin. Forgive another set of pictures of my only Gr. Grandson and Shanna. As you can see, Jerrett and Trouble found time to get to know each other better.

SHANNA LOVE

Here are a few pictures of our visit with Shanna and Jerrett. Jerrett loved our new swing. With Gr. Grandpa and with mommy and one with Trouble. He and Trouble had a wonderful time playing. That lasted quite a while until both got tired of each other.

We had a nice lunch of tamales and Mexican rice. We watched the wedding video and just talked and talked. Jerrett is such a cutie and so smart. I wish we could live closer, but we probably are closer to him because he does live far away.
Shanna made me this wonderful quilt in a shadow box frame. I didn't put it up yet but it will go in the craft room. MY First decoration. They plan to come back Monday so we can have some more time together. I wish I had the words to express my love for this special granddaughter. Each is special in their own way. Absents does make the heart grow fonder.

TA TA!!! IT'S FINISHED

Finally, for the most part the craft room is done. I still have to go through several boxes of books, patterns and some craft to sell. But, as you can see. I actually have a floor!!! And for the 1st time I have my sewing machine where I can use it. (it only took a year)

I have to put some items out for decoration and curtains.

I have 8 huge boxes full of garage sale items. Forgive some of the pics, I forgot to rotate them. I am quite proud of myself. It was Sarah's idea to label and stack the boxes. I have to find my instructions to fix the label. It got stuck and I don't remember how to load it back. I will do it and label all the rest of the boxes later this week.
I had to go back and add one picture. I bragged that you could see the floor and forgot to actually show the floor. So now the floor can be seen..................

Shanna and Jerrett will be here tomorrow! I am so excited. She can witness the craft room.....proof.

This morning we went grocery shopping and to the PX(post exchange) at Ft. Hood. We were glad we stopped at the PX too. We bought a new lawn swing. Our old one fell victim to a squirrel looking for nesting material and a few visitors that used it too well, bent the frame. We kept it and sat on it, but without the cushion it wasn't that comfortable. I am enclosing pics of that too. Let me know what you think of the changes in the craft room now.
