What a wonderful day any grandma would love to have! 1st Shanna and Jerrett came to visit. I took lotsa pictures and got lotsa hugs too. Lord but I have missed them. I wish they could have stayed longer. Jerrett and Trouble had a ball, chasing each other around the yard. Trouble played keep-away with the frisbee. I found out how smart Jerrett is. ( I knew he was) But spelling his name and naming the states his parents and he were born in. All in all it was a great time with them.
Later in the afternoon (bad timing because they missed seeing Shanna and Jerrett) My eldest son, his wife and my granddaughter her husband and our newest grandbaby stopped by. Each great grandparent got to hold the baby as long as we wanted!!! Before there were so many people around it was difficult to get our share.......lol
I will have to show the pics later. Photo page is bonkers. It was my internet! Got it back so on to the photo's.
I got a good one or two of gr. grandpa holding the baby. This is the gruff exterior type of guy. He dislikes having his picture taken so I hold these especially dear. Yuck ! photo page is still unavailable. Darn it. Will post this and wait until later to add the others.

Lucky!

Yesterday, we had an amazing storm blow thru here. We had winds up to 70mph and very hard rain. We were lucky to have missed the golf ball sized hail and any damage that did hit others not far from here. We did get a much needed rain. A little over 3". This morning I went out to see if we did get any damage, but we were indeed blessed. Just some leaves and twigs from the trees and some very droopy petunia's. I was worried that the onions would be down too. Our neibhors were. Ours made it. I did have to pull a few that were bent but not many. They won't grow any more if they are bent. We had been pulling them any way but I didn't want too many to pull.
I heard from Shanna. They will be here Sunday afternoon. I am really looking forward to seeing them. I know poor Jerrett will have to suffer through all the hugs and kisses........lol
Camera is all ready to go also..

Happy Easter

The whole weekend was wonderful! Sarah, my daughter and her bf got here mid-day Saturday. They rented a car which made hubby happy. Her car is ok but he worries that it may fail on her and then she would be stuck! It's a 94 subaru and can be tempramental.
She had wonderful news! She has a new job. As soon as she gives her 2 wk. notice and serves it out she will be back working in the landscape area. A company in Ft. Worth hired her. It was her seconed interview. They had told her on the 1st one that they didn't have an area for her. But she made an impression and they called her back. Whoopie! A much better paycheck than the one she has now.
Saturday we drove to Salado, a small village near here, to walk and look into some wonderful shops and antique stores.
That evening we took them to Dynasty, a great chinese food place.
Sunday we got up early so I could start the bbq. I gave them each an Easter basket filled with candy and a windup chicken that walked laying eggs. LOL It was a lot of fun.
Dinner was perfect. BBQ'ed chicken, potato salad, beans and all the goodies that go with it. For dessert a pineapple pie that is sooooo good but easy to make. Recipe follows:
One pre made shortbread or graham cracker crust ( I use Keebler)
1 can of crushed pineapple
1 cup of sour cream
1 lg box of vanilla instant pudding
Mix the pineapple, sour cream and pudding,
pour into crust, let sit for several hours. (Refridgerate!)
It is really very good.
They left for home a little after 2 and she called that all was well, and she was home safe.
Our other granddaughter and her husband stopped by to wish us a Happy Easter.
All in all it was a super weekend.
Hope you all had the same.

Chit chat

Today is the day before Easter. My daughter and bf are on the way home! They will be our only Easter company that I know of. In a way I am glad. We can do what we want with out cooking forever. Tonite we are taking them out to eat. Dynasty is an excellent chinese buffet, and we had promised the next time they came down we would treat. I am really looking forward to it too. No cooking!
Tomorrow I will bbq some chicken and have potato salad, beans and all the trimmings. Time might change since she has rented a car to drive. Hers has no air conditioning. She had planned to leave early to beat the heat.
The weather here has been awesome. Warm and windy.
We spent the week getting more work done on the back yard. We also planted a bed in the front of the house.
We had some of our onions and they were delicious. Sweet. The tomatoes have started to set and we can hardly wait to enjoy them.

Garage sales

We had such a good time today. We even made a little money! Not as much as I had hoped but we took so little and they we specific to crafters. We will have to give a garage sale ourselves next month.
We got to Ft. Worth a little after 8AM. The sales were all over the place. We set our stuff out and had a cup of coffee with our son and daughter. They stayed to make sales and we set out to see what we could find. There were soo many nice things and I resisted temptation. I did find a few things but for the most part we just looked. The trouble is that I had no more room to put anything if I DID find something........lol. We parked the truck and walked down and back then moved on to the next block. Some of the time hubby drove to the next and I walked. Everyone was so friendly and nice and the weather was perfect. Windy as all get out but cool. In fact I wore a jacket most of the time. I found a very cute wall clock made out of a yellow ladle that would go perfect in my son's kitchen. Too bad I didn't take a picture of it. We got 2 bar stools that were very cheap and we can re-sell them at ours. One sushi cookbook, several books and some crafty things.
After the sale, we went to a chinese restraunt and had a nice late lunch.
A plant farm sets up every year in front of a large mall. We stopped and got 6 flats of plants. Begonias, zinnia's, impatients, ivy and moss rose. Guess what we will be doing tomorrow?
We got home a little after 5 this evening. Our dog was very glad to see us!
The pictures are of my son's house. It's a craftsman bungalow. Very beautiful. He is in the process of doing some renovations, that seems to be a forever job for him, lol
A side note; Thanks to my generous daughter and son, I didn't actually buy all the plants mentioned above. Sarah purchased 2 flats for us. One of Ivy and one of the begonia's. Adam, our son purchased 2 hanging baskets for himself. One a ivy geranium and one of a black sweet potato vine. I kept telling him how much I liked the sweet potato and as we loaded up to leave, he gave me his! What wonderful children we have.

What happened to my week?

I had so many plans! Some we did get done, others forget about it. Our new gr. grandbaby went home Monday. We went to Georgetown to see if I had a check. Thankfully we did. Only 2 returns. (Item that are not sold after 6 months) I seldom get returns except for holiday items. They are returned right after a holiday. Tuesday we went grocery shopping. I swear we plan to cut back! I never works that way..lol Wednesday we spent the entire day doing yard work. Fertilizing the lawn and cleaning up. Thursday we weeded the onions and behind the cannas. The cannas were planted to make a pretty screen from the folks who live behind us. They are definatly NOT yard people. The weeds grew really fast and large. Friday I suffered for all the bending and kneeling. I didn't realize that I could be that sore. And we made a new craft, or at least most of it. We need to find some thin leather. We are making a cross. Or I should say crosses. Its a new pattern and quite pretty. I will post it when they are complete.
Tomorrow we head to Ft. Worth. My son lives there in an historic home district and the homeowners association hold an annual district garage sale. We went last year and got some fantastic buys. The homes are all built in the early 1900's. Craftsmans style for the most part.
I am taking my camera and will take some pictures of the homes and the garage sales. There is supposed to be over 70.
