It's coming together!

It looks like all the wedding plans are coming together. I still have sleepless nights, but I can live with it. We have everything but the cakes ordered. I will do that right after the 4th. I have two people to check with. I still haven't checked on the Mariachi band so keep your fingers crossed that we can find one and they are priced low enough. That too will be done after the 4th.
That is another thing we are busy planning. Every year we host a bbq in our back yard. We invite friends and family. Last year we had 35. This year it may be more. We were fortunate to have found more friends to invite. I cook the meat (brisket, sausage)beans, and potato salad. Everyone brings a dish to share and the beverage of choice. We do provide soda's, water, sweet tea and margurita's. It's a nice chance to catch up on news, and eat until you burst, all in the hot Texas summer. Fortunatly we have a great deal of shade in our yard.
Belton is a small town, but has the distiction of being host to one of the longest continuing celebrations in the country. The never quit during the war years. The parade is great. The old fashioned kind with tractors , decorated cars, baseball and softball teams and any one else that wants to join in. We have a carnival, rodeo, and arts and crafts along the creek. It's corny but we all love it! For years we HAD to go because of kids and grandkids in the marching band or on a float, but sadly no more. Now we stay home and get ready for the party. Ya'll come and join us!

More on the wedding

As announced, the wedding will take place Sept.2. That is if we all survive. She is in Dallas, about 200 miles north of us. She has very definite ideas of what she wants. She is trying to describe what color red she wants.... hmmmmmmmmm
She has picked out a very beautiful dress. I think she plans to make the veil. The one she loved was WAY to pricey. I think if she takes her time cutting it out, she may get it done. Lots of glueing of the crystals. We shall see. She is usually very tired when she gets home.
We just listen to the plans, and the nerves and go on with our lives.......lol
I have been picking up various decorations, she is letting me decorate the tables and chairs...lucky me! I have found several cake decorators so after the 4th of July I will take the picture she sent me and see about getting it started. We won't have a huge crowd so maybe it wont cost us our left leg. He wants, for his grooms cake, a tres leches cake (3 milk cake, a mexican cake that is super good)
And Shanna, you won't believe this but I called Mark and he instantly said he would drive down for the wedding. He wasn't sure Marita would come because her sister was coming the 6th. But he would be here................amazing! Now to pray it comes true.

Hubby craft!

My husband has been working on these crosses for several wks now. Not actually making them, that was the easy part. The time came from him, drawing plans, measuring, purchasing several types of leather, measuring, getting upholstry nails, sawing wood, glueing, checking to see if the glue would hold, cutting the leather, getting me to cut it right, and on it goes. Me, I do it the easy way. I grab some wood, slap it together, and if it looks ok, I finish it. Lol. I am glad he won't read this. But he is obsessive about making things.
His always does look better than mine, I wonder why.

super good news

Our daughter is getting married! We knew it was serious, but she gave us just 3 months to plan. Actually she knows exactly what she wants and for the most part will be paying for it.
It will be held in our back yard Sept. 2. (Please ya all pray for good weather) The man she is will marry is Hispanic so the wedding will be a blend of Mexico and Texas! What a combo lol.
He is absolutly perfect for her. She chose well.
The fun for us will be getting the yard in tip top shape, gathering the decorations, a new suit for the Father of the Bride and new duds for me! And of course all the other little details (which will be endless) My daughter in law and her children, Jessica, Jennifer and Justin will all have a big part, thank goodness.
Our great neighbors have promised to help also. They too are Mexican and will help with the dinner to follow. As my daughter says a "mexican smorgisbord". So much fun, so little time.
