oh so nice!

We took our craft up to the store this morning. She bought ALL of the smaller size Tx wreath, 6 of the candleholders and 3 of the large wreaths. A nice tidy profit! It will come in very handy for the wedding expenses. We are going to take some to Georgetown tomorrow. It's a consignment craft store. We do rather well there too. Next month they will be having a special sale for the Chisolm Trail celebration. Hopefully customers will like our Texas stuff. The more sales the better.
We are also going to treat ourselves to a LUBY's lunch. We haven't been there in months. I think we deserve it.

What we did!

I mentioned that we had an order for more craft and that I would take pictures of them when finished. And they are finished! We made 11 of the large Tx wreaths, 15 of the small ones, and 10 of the candle holders. I will probably add raffia to the wreaths but it wont change it that much. Little or no cash involved in making them but a whole lot of work. Hubby does the hard part. Cutting the tin and the barbed wire. I paint the tin and the saucers on the candle holders and help him put them all together.
Now I get to make the table decorations for the wedding. I will really enjoy that!

Good News, or the continuing wedding fun.

We actually did good news yesterday. I kept calling around for a JP to marry Sarah and her bf.
I did find one but he charged $200. Now I know he deserves the money for his time, it's just that our budget is failing fast.
Our eldest son is an Ordained Minister, so we had asked him to perform the marriage. He declined because he thought he would have to apply for a license to do it and HIS budget was tight too. I finally, after many calls, found out that as long as he is recognized by his Church as an Ordained Minister, he could perform the marriage. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! When he found out that bit of information, he readily agreed. Sarah was beside herself with joy. He was no.1 on her list. He will do great, because he is such a good person. Big sigh of relief.......................
In other news, we have been working very hard to complete the order we got for our tin texas items. It isn't easy due to the heat. Plus 100 every day. Some of the things just have to be done outside. So we get up very early and go out to complete them. 50% is finished. The rest will be done this weekend. I will take pics. and post them when we are finished.

It's too hot to do what we did!

Hi all, the weather is doing it's usual thing. Getting hotter and dryer every day.
Today we went to Dallas to get some of my daughters things. They are items she doesn't need or want any more. She will be moving next week and wanted them out so she could concentrate on the rest. We had light traffic going up. Actually got there earlier than we expected. We had a welcome cup of coffee then went shopping. We went to Central Market where we got some of their famous cinnamon raisin bread, some really good cherry tomatoes and some of the bulk spices that we love. From there we went to Michaels again and again didn't buy any thing. (I must be sick) She took us to Mariano's a great Mexican food place. We went back to her apt. and after a rest, we loaded all her stuff. It filled the back seat and the bed of the truck! We made it home, plenty of traffic. Now we have to find places to keep her stuff until its time to give a garage sale again. Fun fun fun.......
I know I will have to try the garage sale thing again. I have too much stuff!!! I will probably wait until after the wedding, probably in October. It should be cooler then (at least I hope so)
Speaking of the wedding. It really is coming together now. Thanks to my wonderful granddaughter and her step dad, we now have a Mariachi band. The food was ordered, the decoration have been decided upon, not finished though, and the chairs and tables reserved.
Tomorrow, or at least this week we will order the cake. Sarah's bridesmaid is providing the grooms cake. I will try very hard to have all the decorations done with in the next 2 weeks. Then comes the heavy duty cleaning! I admit, I am a slob most of the time. So heavy duty is really what I mean! And heavy duty hiding....lol All the things I keep out most of the time will have to be hidden away. With that many people here, uhhhhh....help!!! A 3 bedroom small house that used to hold 6-7 people can barely hold 2 now.

Pick yourself up-dust yourself off and start all over again!

That's part of a song that my mother used to quote to herself. I needed to remind myself that is exactly what I needed. I am NEVER depressed, seldom down, but that is what I have been feeling lately. Now I am positive that I will not ever invite those no-shows again. They are not worth the feeling I am getting. I know, I know something may have happened to them but I feel kind of useless for all the work we did. I guess the weather has something to do with it too, It's HOT. That and getting ready for a wedding which actually makes me happy. Darned if you do and darned if you don't....lol
Now on to happy things! No more upsets that I can't control !!!!!

Me? Whine?

I still am recovering from the 4th. I used to pop right back after a big event, but I think the age is getting to me. I'm still a little disgusted by the turn out too. I know I shouldn't feel that way but hey, I do the work and I enjoy our friends and then they don't show up??
Can you see the whine coming?
Today we went to Waco and to Michael's (craft store, for those who don't know) And I didn't buy anything!!! That is so hard to believe. We stopped in McGregor and talked to the lady who buys some of our craft work and she ordered, much to our surprise. She usually buys for Christmas, rarely in the summer. We have to get busy now and make 10 of one item and 6 of another. The cash will come in handy for the wedding.
We stopped at DQ and had a nice hamburger for lunch. I love the hungerbusters.
After that we kind of got lazy again!

After the 4th

What a great time we had! Children, grandchildren and a few new faces. We had rain just in time for serving the food. We all stayed out for the most part. A few headed to the house but hey, the rain was so welcome. It didn't last long fortunatly. We had sooooooooooooo much food. In fact, because many didn't come, too much food. Next year I think it will be family and close neighbors only. It really is a dissappointment to have no shows. Twice for 2! One came and left, promising they would be back but they didn't. Our grandson brought 3 of his friends which was nice. They are nice young men. They all go to Baylor. The next day our son drove us to Marble Falls and Burnet to go antiquing. I enjoyed that too, but I was so very tired. Now we are having left-over meals......lol.

pre-4th of July

We have been getting ready for the 4th for weeks and today I realized that I still have lots to do!
I deep cleaned the kitchen and bathroom this morning. (It will have to be done again) Hubby went out to do yard work. He did the trimming of the edges and the fence line with the weedeater. I suspect we will get a rain and it will have to be mowed also.
We put pumps in all our fishponds. We found out that the hot weather and the amount of tadpoles were depleting the oxygen, therefore killing the fish. Fortunatly none of the koi were killed. We did lose both of our breeding goldfish but saved the babies..12 in all. All the ponds have babies and hundreds of tadpoles. Both toad poliwogs and leopard frogs. Perhaps a bull frog or two. They are the very large ones that develop slowly.
I have to admit having to buy the pumps at this time was not in the budget but the sight and sound of the water was worth every penny. I will try to sneak time tomorrow to take a pic. of them running.
Sarah( the bride to be) will be home tomorrow. She found out the bf actually asked for Monday off! She said if she didn't already love him she did now. He rarely(almost never) takes a day off. So both of them will be here! Yeah.
Adam, the youngest will be here Monday. I tried to bribe him by mentioning that I would be making stuffed shells for supper Sunday night. It didn't work......lol
Recipe for stuffed shells: 1 pkg of very large pasta shells cooked, drained and cooled for a little bit.
1 pkg breakfast sausage, crumbled and cooked, cool
1 box chopped spinach, thawed and drained (squish the liquid out)
1 lg container cottage cheese
1 clove garlic minced
1 can spaghetti sauce
cheese, grated (i use colby jack)
mix all the ing. together and place in the cooked shells in a large rectangular cake pan (i spray pam first) pour spaghetti sauce over,
sprinkle grated cheese over the top. I like lotsa cheese! Bake at 350 for about 30 min or until cheese is bubbly. It is a super good dish. Especially nice for potluck etc.
Ok, now I gave you the recipe, let me know if you tried it and the reaction of your guests and family.
After all that, Sarah just IM'd me and told me the her bf is cooking fajita's for us! His fajitas won!!! I didn't want to fire up the oven any way.......lol
