Long day, worth it's while

Today we got up early and made a trip to Sarah's. We had a few things to pick up and to follow them back here. Sarah's car, much used and loved had come close to quiting one time to many. So it had to be traded in for a more reliable vehicle. We had talked to one of the more reliable salesman that we have used and he found a beautiful 2003 Chevy Trailblazer that still was under warrenty. Less than 46,000 k. We let Sarah know, and she jumped at it. I should have taken a pic. but didn't. This newer car is great! So they left old faithful junker at the dealer and drove home in safety and comfort! They had to go right back this evening, so we didn't have very much time with them. But at least they will be able to come home more often.
Sarah had fixed us a nice breakfast and we loaded some wood, a bookcase, and 2 dvd holders and pretty much did a turnaround. So, long day, but very worth it's while. Sarah took a look at the clean up of the craft room and approved of the job so far. I think I am going to paint it before we do the organization. She is coming down the week end of my birthday and help. Yipee!

Weather

Yesterday we knew we were going to get some weather. Today I believed them. We had light drizzle most of the day Friday but the worst was coming. A very strange storm popped up just north. Light wind, no heavy rain, no lightning but it spawned a tornado. It dropped down and did some damage but not bad, thank goodness. It was funny because the TV station that advertises that they have a tornado predictor, did not see it, In fact, they did not call it until after the National weather called it. They sent one of the weather forcasters out to follow, and they did see the cloud dropping down but no actual tornado. It went all the way into Waco. Thank God it didn't produce more.

Last night just as I got into bed (1AM) I heard thunder. So I got up and unplugged the computer. Glad I did because we had heavy, heavy rain, wind and plenty of lightning and thunder. I didn't sleep very well thinking about the damage that would happened. Glad to report that I worried for nothing.

Today it rained hard. We got 4". It came down so hard that it flooded parts of our back yard.

Tomorrow we are on the edge of an ice storm warning. Our temperature right now is 35. All we can do is be prepared.

It's Love!

I finally got to see my gr. grandbaby, Annalise. Jessica called this morning and invited us over to see the baby. They have been extra careful with her due to worry about illness.
Any way, I couldn't wait to get my hands on her. She is absolutly beautiful! Take this Gr. Grandma's word for it. Too bad the one holding her isn't as pretty. She tried to open her eyes but I only got a glimpse. No matter. I will have many opportunities to hold her and watch her grow. I could have stayed much longer but I knew better. Babies need rest and so do the parents. She is tiny but has a good head of hair and I swear I saw dimples. Beautiful mouth and long fingers. She isn't easy to identify as belonging to either parent in looks. I believe she will be favoring Mom. We are in love!!
Welcome to the family of love Annalise.

Backyard surprise

This morning we noticed a hawk sitting in our yard. I thought it was sitting on it's prey. I went to get my camera and much to my surprise, I actually got close enough to take a decent picture.

We see hawks here from time to time because we feed the birds and they feed on them.

Later, the hawk was still there and I began to worry. I went out and sure enough, the hawk was unable to fly. I believe it may have injured his wing. It has moved all over the yard but all on foot. I called the Texas Parks and Wildlife dept. but the person was alone in the office and asked me to call back in the morning if the hawk was still here. Hawks are protected here and I would hate to see something happen to it. I will try to let you know what happened to it later.
*********update**********
Sorry to tell you that this evening, while checking on the hawk, we found it had died.
We have no way of knowing how long it had been hurt, so it may have starved. So sad. It was a beautiful bird.

New Years resolutions and musings

I found out we live a boring life. We seldom change what we do, or where we go. We wait for people(family) to come by. We know we have an open invitation to visit some of them, but seldom do. Not because we don't want to, but because they work and to visit when they are off is not very nice. I hate to interupt their nap time, or their house work, etc. I love visitors, and this week we had several and I loved it. Other wise, we stayed home and watched it rain. '
I have made 2 new years resolutions. I admit to not really trying to keep them. But this year I am telling everyone so when they do come by, I can show them that I am trying very hard to do them. I do have some pride it doing what I say I will do.
1. My first is the most important. I want to have lost 20 pounds by the next Christmas. I know I can do it, it's just getting started. My brain keeps telling me I am "HUNGRY". My stomach starts growling as soon as the words are out of my mouth. I don't thing I am terribly fat, just about 30# over what I weighed when we were married. And looking at my self in the wedding pictures is a slap in the face! If I'm not fat, I need to re-arrange what I have........lol
2. Clean out my craft room before March 1st! It's a nightmare. I am a craft collector- yes, a real collector of every thing craft. Its a 9X12 room totally filled and spilled into the garage, attic, and a shed. I have given a lot away, sold bunches and it seems to grow. So something has to go. I have hundreds of paint, mostly acrylic but oils, watercolors and tempera. I dont even want to guess how many craft/pattern books I have. Tubs and tubs of wood, beads, fabric, and everything else. So many things that I won't use but hate to throw away anything. So, here are the pictures of my "craft room". Look for the finished pics later. Too bad my only crafter in the family is living too far away. Shanna, wish you were here. I would put you to work and let you cart off a bunch. Ok, I took pics of the disater I call "craft room" Hubby was in shock. I don't like any one to see it if possible but you all are priveledge to see it. I am doing this to force myself to 'get er done' Let me know if you have one worse. I hope it makes me feel better.......lol

Baby update

The new year will be an exciting one. We already had our treat by having a new Gr. Granddaughter. She has been having a few problems being premature. They took her for a check up and they wound up keeping her. She was still having temperature problems, they got that solved but found she had sleep apnea. She stops breathing. They put her on a monitor and tonight the parents will sleep in the room with her, they will be able to learn more about the monitor and what happens should it go off. Fortunatly, both parents are caring and loving and smart enough to handle any problems.
We still haven't been able to see her in person and hold her. We also have patience. We know that she is in a vunerable state and they shouldn't let people in until she is stablized. So, we get reports from our DIL about her, say our prayers, and look forward to the time we can see her and rock her. Ya'll please keep her and her parents in your prayers.
