The great door caper!

As noted before, our son and daughter-in law gave us a backdoor for our wedding anniv. We have the same doors that we had when the house was built. They were/are the hollow core doors that looked good when 1st installed then go down hill from there. The door they installed is a steel door with double paned glass. It even has a deadbolt lock. We had never had one before. (lucky we never had a break in)
Son and wife came Sun. for a late lunch/early supper, then the fun began.
Hubby has never done a door by himself, always was the helper.
They took out the old door easily enough, wrecking out the old frame etc.
The new door actually went in rather easily too. Problem was that the new door and frame didn't measure up the same way. Our old frame was much wider. So we had very big gaps to fill and or cover. So, the fun began.
Hubby wanted to cover the gaps of course. He just didn't want it to look bad. So he began figuring out what to use to cover the outside with. I am absolutly useless when it comes to replacing or fixing stuff like that.
First to be fixed was the inside molding. Just 2 trips to lumber stores for that one.
Next the outside trim. Many, many drawings, measurings and trying to tell me what he means. I was looking blank. Of course that made him angry because I didn't know what the world he was talking about. 3 more trips to lumber yards. Finally found the right stuff. Then getting all the tools out, and watching the rain coming in closer and closer. Long story short, the door was finished yesterday after noon. Oh. actually we did the caulk this after noon........lol 4 days work but worth every minute. Sorry about the sideways pic. I couldn't figure out to rotate it....
